About the Mini Legends Program

The Mini Legends Program (MLP) is a physical literacy program for youth that is supported and managed by Athletics Alberta. MLP is a safe and inclusive program that uses fundamental movement and basic sports skills.

Grassroots Program

MLP is one of the grassroots programs of Athletics Alberta; programs aimed at youth and recreational athletes. Athletics Alberta – the provincial governing body for track and field, cross country, and road running – has been developing athletes using the concepts of run, jump, throw – those found in the Mini Legends Program – for over 50 years.

The skills and attitudes associated with physical literacy give youth the tools to regulate their physical, social, and emotional wellbeing through physical activity.

When ALL youth are empowered to be physically literate through accessible opportunities, they develop resiliency, teamwork skills, determination, and accomplishment.
